曾梵志

曾梵志,1964年出生于湖北武漢市,1991年畢業于湖北美術學院油畫系。從二十世紀九十年代起,曾梵志的創作以其獨特的語言風格和敏銳的社會批判,受到評論界廣泛的贊譽,也得到社會民眾的持續關注。與此同時,曾梵志參與了一系列國際和國內重要的藝術展事,包括首屆廣州雙年展(1992)、廣州三年展(2002)、威尼斯雙年展(2009)等,并在上海美術館、蘇州美術館、新加坡美術館、保加利亞國立美術館、法國Saint-Etienne 當代藝術博物館等知名藝術機構舉辦了個人展覽。曾梵志被認為是當代中國較具代表性和國際影響的藝術家之一。

個人經歷

曾梵志1964年出生于湖北武漢的一個普通家庭,父母都是一家印刷廠的工人。年少的曾梵志是內向的,在學校不愛說話,還經常回答不上來老師的提問,班上僅有的三位沒有加入少先隊的學生,他是其中一個。日后,這一傷痛進入《面具》系列中表現的一個瞬間。
學校漸漸成為曾梵志厭惡的地方。16歲,初中畢業時他說什么都不愿意再上學了,“我沒有辦法在學校那個環境待下去,天天都覺得痛苦,我就求我父母讓我走上社會。”曾媽媽最終拗不過兒子,由曾爸爸找了一個在印刷廠的工作,少年曾梵志走上社會了,“差不多就是童工”。
“走上社會也好,我開始慢慢清楚自己想要什么。”曾梵志結識了一位比他大十歲的鄰居,這位鄰居大哥因為沒有考上湖北美術學院油畫系的研究生,閑來無事,就教曾梵志畫畫。他們幾乎天天在一起畫畫,沒過幾年,曾梵志便不再去印刷廠。
17歲時,他與一些熱愛美術的朋友到處游歷,在北京和上海接觸了西方的現代畫家的作品,非常震驚。他立志進入藝術的殿堂學習,卻因為文化課不好,連續四年高考都名落孫山。1987年,23歲的曾梵志終于如愿成為湖北美院油畫系8名新生之一,而當年油畫系的教師則有12位。這份榮耀令他父母邀請了所有街坊來慶祝。

進入學校后,學校的教學方式和好學生的標準跟自己的想象有些出入。自認為當時已經是自由藝術家的曾梵志喜歡自由的狀態,喜歡去外面看各種展覽,但同時又要按照學校的方式去完成作業,去考試。當自由藝術家和學校好學生有著諸多矛盾時,曾梵志認為應該找一個更適合自己表達情感的,表達內心狀態創作作品的一個方向。
在美院,受德國表現主義的影響,曾梵志與蘇派教學漸行漸遠,課余創作那些日后被評價為“帶有啟示性表現主義色彩”的畫作。到了大學三年級,他直接將課余創作帶進課堂,遭到了兩極化的評價,“年紀大的反對,給我打68分,但是年輕老師給我打98分”。
曾梵志大學三年級時創作了《憂郁的人》。這幅同學的肖像畫,讓曾梵志學會了如何用自己的感情去表達自己所要描繪的對象,記錄了曾梵志藝術發展的轉變。1992年,他以500元的價格將這幅畫出售給一家基金會。19年之后,成名之后的曾梵志,用超過千萬的重金回購了這幅作品。
當同學們都按照老師的要求奔赴西藏或黃土高原去體驗生活的時候,曾梵志卻留在了武漢,畫他熟悉的街道和生活。曾梵志當時住在武漢一所醫院的隔壁,他住的房子沒有洗手間,因此他每天經過武漢這家醫院的走廊借用洗手間,周圍或焦急或茫然的病人們逐漸成為曾梵志每日所見的必須,手術臺、人體、痙攣的眼神,這些元素在曾梵志91年到94年的作品中呈現出來,讓他一下子就擺脫了模仿狀態,跨入成熟。
曾梵志,1995年參加“1979年以來中國前衛藝術展”(巴塞羅納圣莫尼卡藝術中心)。1996年參加“中國展”(波恩藝術博物館)。1997年參加“首屆當代藝術學術邀請展”(中國美術館)。1998年舉辦“曾梵志個展1993-1998”(中央美術學院畫廊、香格納畫廊)。作品多為瑞士、德國、香港及國內收藏家收藏。
畢業時,曾梵志被分到武漢一家廣告公司,理由是油畫專業正好與廣告公司所需的“去大街上畫畫”對口。到那以后曾梵志自然很失望,“當年體制不是好事,它會把你專業廢掉。”
于是繼續堅持從大學開始的自由創作,畫肉聯系列、畫協和醫院題材、畫市井小巷的粗茶淡飯,也畫人性的敵視和暴力傾向——這些畫面是對青年曾梵志當時飽受折磨的個人情感、挫敗感和焦慮感的集中展示。“我當年那樣畫畫是不被主流允許的,屬于資產階級自由泛濫,他們不會說你遵從內心感受。”
美國《藝術新聞》一位藝術評論的撰寫者來武漢考察后,在雜志上發表了曾梵志《協和三聯畫》系列作品。這讓曾梵志高興壞了,恨不得天天打開這本雜志給人家看。
不久,《江蘇畫刊》跟著刊登了此系列作品。1991年夏,著名藝術評論家栗憲庭讓曾梵志寄幾張作品圖片給他,并在香港刊物《21世紀》為其寫了一篇評論文章。栗憲庭第二次來找曾梵志時,還帶來了香港漢雅軒老板張頌仁,那是曾梵志第一次賣畫,價格2000美元,是那些拿工資的人好幾年的收入。張頌仁還向曾梵志發出“后89中國新藝術”展覽邀請。
受到關注,讓曾梵志對未來充滿了希望。“ 后89中國新藝術的展覽,讓我覺得我走的這條藝術之路是對的。我們關注內心、關注社會這種藝術表達方向是對的。”除了有了鼓勵和信心外,這一次賣畫經歷也讓曾梵志敢到北京來,租個房子畫畫。
2014年2月,拍賣場的追捧、學術平臺的認可,藝術家曾梵志正走出中國當代藝術家的群體效應。在巴黎市立當代美術館舉辦的曾梵志首個法國回顧展落幕。39件作品用倒敘的方式給西方提供了一次了解“完整曾梵志”的機會,為期4個月的展覽迎來超過5萬觀眾。展覽閉幕當天,此次展覽的主導者巴黎市立當代美術館館長法布里斯艾爾高特(Fabrice Hergott)接受新京報記者專訪。他指出,盡管籌備展覽前也有不少反對聲音,但該館首次采用與歐美藝術家完全對等的方式為中國藝術家做個展,是因為“美術館要展示世界性,我們應該接受來自不同國家的藝術。”
展覽匯集了曾梵志1990年至2013年創作的39件作品,其中就包括他最具有代表性的“面具”系列,如《面具系列6號》,還有2004年的作品《肖像》。

2007年5月,曾梵志第一件過千萬的作品于香港佳士得拍出,其1996年作品《面具系列:11996第8號》估價為100萬至150萬港元,最后拍出1264萬港元。事實上,曾梵志最吸金的面具系列早在上世紀90年代末便已進入拍場,但在1997年中國嘉德秋拍的首秀中,這幅估價為8萬至10萬元的《面具97》慘遭流標。
2008年6月《面具系列1996No.6》以高達7536.75萬港元成交,刷新了此前蔡國強保持的最貴中國當代藝術品紀錄。
2012年9月1日在北京798舉辦的芭莎明星慈善夜,曾梵志與馮小剛共同創作的作品《一念》拍賣了1700萬元。
2013年《最后的晚餐》,(2001年作,油彩畫布,220x395 )拍出1.8億港元 成亞洲最貴當代藝術品。

個人榮譽

1993年作品《協和三聯畫》獲“九十年代廣州雙年展”優秀獎。2010年12月19日,獲得2010中國嬌子新銳榜年度藝術家。
2015年3月18日胡潤研究院在北京發布《2015胡潤藝術榜》(Hurun Most Sucessful Chinese Artists Alive Today 2015),曾梵志2014年作品總成交額2.9億元列崔如琢之后,位列第二,范曾以2.7億元位列第三。
社會活動
曾梵志在參加時尚界的慈善拍賣時,就曾捐出過一米七的大畫,讓主辦方感激不盡。此外,曾梵志每年還拿出12萬,在母校設立優秀學生獎學金;每年拿出10萬美金,資助北大現代藝術檔案的研究工作。曾梵志說自己以前也有過困難的時候,當時也接受過別人的幫助,愛心是需要傳遞的。對于這些在地震中喪失行走能力但仍舊熱愛藝術的孩子們,曾梵志通過記者傳達鼓勵的話。 在地震發生后,曾梵志也到過地震災區。“我剛開始的時候先是聽別人說了一些關于‘藝術助殘’的事情,后來見到周春芽聽他詳細地告訴我之后,我決定支持并真正地參與到這個活動中來。”之前不少社會各界人士都對“藝術助殘”慷慨解囊,曾梵志也毫不例外,他一口氣捐贈了35萬人民幣,這成為“五彩基金”成立以來收到的最大一筆單人捐贈。周春芽對曾梵志的善舉表示出由衷的贊賞,他說:“為了讓這一大筆善款發揮更大的作用,我們決定用這筆錢專門設立一個‘五彩基金·曾梵志藝術獎學金’,用作殘疾孩子在藝術院校深造的學費,只要他們考上大學,獎學金正式開始啟動。”慈善晚宴,曾梵志也出席了。

人物評價

曾梵志的作品以其嚴謹而獨特的造型,假面具的符號,在單純而平靜的背景襯托下,演繹著當下人們的精神狀態,煩躁、不安.盡管帶有卡通的色彩和調侃的味道,仍給人以沉重感和壓抑感。他的作品在寫實的外框下,采用隱喻和象征的表現主義手法,給人留下鮮明的印象。 作品熱議 對于曾梵志的《最后的晚餐》,朱其說,杰出藝術家的作品可以成就高價。但要滿足一些必要條件。 首先,畫家的作品是否得到了學術界的共同認可?如果藝術史都評價一個人的作品成為了一個時期的代表作,即便他本人不是頂尖的藝術家,至少也能夠獲得藝術史評價對其作品價格的支撐。 第二,畫家的作品價格是否公允?不能是只有一場拍賣會上你出現個天價,你所有的作品就都能水漲船高。在國外,一個畫家的身價,取決于10家~ 20家世界上頂尖的藝術基金會給出的平均報價。比如一個畫家可能賣過一幅1億元的畫作,但5年來只有這一幅達到過1億元,其他的作品都在2000萬元左右,那么1億元的那幅作品帶有偶發性,不能算作能夠代表你作品的真實的價格。 當然,即便是畢加索這樣偉大的畫家,他的作品價格也存在差距,那些具有歷史代表性、得到過藝術品評價的作品,價格一定高于他的小品畫。但市場對其作品的平均價位是有預期的。 “曾梵志的作品沒有理由賣到這么高。我認為還是一個地區炒作價格。在臺灣也曾經出現過這種情況,某一個藝術家的作品被資本瘋狂追逐,但躍出這個地區,沒有人認可這樣的價格。” 第三,一件拍品的落錘價是不是真正的交割價?事實上,在拍賣落錘后交割后,可能還有很多外人不了解的協議方式。比如藝術家還會多送買家幾幅作品,等于是買家出了一筆錢買了畫家一批畫。“但有些天價拍品即便是買一幅送一批,買家最后也不買單。” 北京大學文化產業研究院副院長陳少峰在接受本刊記者采訪時表示,曾梵志的天價作品在西方主導的系統之中,與國內的作品沒有可比性。而所謂的系統,也可以看成是一個圈子。“你進不了這個圈子,你就是外行,有好東西也賣不出好價錢。” “曾梵志的天價對國內很多人來講,是沒有意義的,因為那是西方的定價系統和香港的拍賣系統合作的產物,與國內藝術系統不對應,也可以說沒有任何指導意義。”陳少峰表示。中國沒有當代藝術? 有人說,曾梵志作品的天價,會讓中國當代藝術熱起來。朱其卻說,中國當代藝術現在沒有熱,今后十年也不會熱了。“藝術市場是不受報紙的影響,如果全國的報紙今天都報道股市要漲,可能明天股市在人氣作用下就真的會上漲。在藝術品市場,買東西的始終是那一小批人,他們不受媒體影響,媒體說市場會火,到下半年可能還是沒人氣。” 雖然已經“得罪”了不少人,但朱其還在強調,嚴格說來,那些明星藝術家也不能算作是當代藝術家。因為他們用的藝術表現語言,還停留在“二戰”以前,比如表現主義,或者上世紀50、60年代的波普藝術,那些都不能算做是當代藝術。當代藝術應該以多媒體為載體,而且基本上不包括繪畫。 “現在很多人說自己是當代藝術家,當我沒有見到一個畫家貢獻了一種新的藝術語言。只有貢獻了一種新的語言模式,才能說你的作品是當代藝術。我們現在只能是當代題材繪畫。在中國,那些所謂的當代藝術家,大部分是名不副實的。在國外也是這樣,弗洛伊德繪畫也很不錯,但沒有人說他是當代藝術家。一些作品可以說是后現代繪畫,但后現代繪畫也不能成為當代藝術。” 在朱其看來,曾梵志使用的是德國表現主義的語言,嚴格講不算當代藝術。“我們這十年來有一個誤解,就是把一批慣于使用上世紀20年代到60年代繪畫語言的畫家,稱之為當代藝術家代表。這是不對的。但也有人反駁說他反應了當代生活,但表現手法上你還是用了早已有之的語言,因為藝術史首先是語言史。”
